From very Ancient Times, Cow has been regarded as the most sacred animal. It is believed that 33 crore Gods and Goddesses reside inside the Cow. As per ancient vedic texts, serving a Cow is considered as one of the most auspicious act for getting Peace, Prosperity and Happiness since it is considered equivalent to serving all the Gods and Goddesses who resides in the Cow.
Offering Grass / serving to a Cow on regular basis is considered to be equivalent to taking bath at various pilgrimages and the person doing this is blessed by all the Gods and Goddesses thereby enabling him to attain Moksha (salvation) for himself as well as for his Ancestors. A single act of serving a Cow can help a person get rid of Pitra Dosha as well as all the 9 planets are said to be pacified by this act as per Ancient vedic texts.
It is said that both Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi ji are pleased with a person who makes arrangement for a Cow's service and is blessed with Abundance and Prosperity. This act is of serving a Cow is considered equivalent to an Ashwamedh Yagna and hence, even the most powerful of Kings had a tradition of serving Cows. Even in Bhagwat Geeta, Lord Krishna has asserted that a person reaches Heaven if he has served or made arrangements for the service of a Cow.
